Frances Walker, Church Mother
2025-Present
Frances Walker has been a faithful member of GFC for over 60 years, dedicating her time and service to the Lord and her church family. She accepted Christ in 1965 and has been a devoted believer ever since. One of her greatest joys is serving as the Sunday School Secretary, where she helps ensure the ministry runs smoothly.
Her favorite scripture, John 14, reminds her of the peace and promise found in Christ. Throughout the years, she has been blessed with a loving family, including her five wonderful grandchildren. She and her beloved spouse have shared 45 years of marriage, building a life rooted in faith and love.
Most recently, she enjoyed studying and discussing the story of the blind man, a powerful reminder of God’s miraculous works. With a heart for service and a deep love for her church, she continues to inspire those around her with her dedication and unwavering faith.

1987-1989
Mother Ruth (Missionary) Odessa Walker
She was born on November 6th and gave her life to Christ at an early age in Terrell, Texas. She rooted herself under the leadership of Pastor Elect Lillian H. Daniels at Free Church of God True Holiness in “Sunny” South Dallas on Anderson Street.
Later, she united with Faith Chapel COGIC, where she was installed as the church mother under the leadership of our founders, Robert L. and Florida M. Taylor.
Mother Odessa Walker was well known for singing songs such as "This Little Light of Mine," "Calvary," and "Shine on Me."
Some of the powerful messages she preached included “I Also Saw the Lord,” “Be Still and Know that I Am God,” and “Would You Be Left Behind?”
She was a bold and strong altar worker, renowned for her fervent prayers. You could often hear her calling on the name of Jesus and driving away the enemy. Mother Odessa was also known for breaking into Holiness dance, giving God all the praise throughout the church.
1992-2009
Mother Thelma Day
Born on April 25, 1923, she dedicated her life to serving God with unwavering faith, love, and devotion.
She united with Faith Chapel Church of God in Christ (COGIC), where she was appointed and faithfully served as Church Mother under the leadership of the church's founders, Robert L. and Florida M. Taylor.
One of her most memorable sayings was, "Come clean or stay away dirty." She often shared these words with the younger generation, hoping to encourage them to recognize the errors of their ways, seek God's forgiveness, and surrender their lives to Christ.
As a compassionate mentor, faithful servant, and spiritual mother, she faithfully fulfilled her calling until God called her home. Her legacy of faith, wisdom, and steadfast service continues to inspire all who were blessed to know her.
2010-2023 Years of Devotion
Mother Vernestine Robinson
She was born on July 17, 1938. She gave her life to Christ at an early age, but later, she accepted her calling and received the baptism of the Holy Ghost on Solar Lane, the home of the “Big Mosquitoes,” the late founders.
In 2013, she was installed as the church mother under the leadership of Pastor Jeffery L. and Lady Shanique N. Brown. She quickly began to stir up the women of the church, encouraging them to "Be Strong in the Lord."
She was a powerful altar worker and an intercessor in prayer. She served as the Women's Department leader and Prayer Ministry president. She was a counselor to many, both within her family and to anyone she met. You could often hear her calling on the name of Jesus, and she never hesitated to go toe-to-toe with the enemy. She was also known for breaking into Holiness dance and speaking in tongues, giving God all the praise throughout the church.
