Our Story

Pastor Robert L. & Missy. Marire Taylor

Our Foundation

Taylor Memorial was founded in 1977 by Pastor Elder Rober L. & Florida M. Taylor in Sand Branch, Texas by the inspiration of God. Pastor Taylor moved the church to Dallas, Texas and united with Free Church of God True Holiness COGIC. On October 27, 1977, the church was reorganized and planted roots at 4057 Solar Lane down in Joppa, aka the home of the "Big Mosquitoes".  The Lord did great things while the ministry grew for 12 years at this location. The church moved again to 206 Embrey Drive, where he served the reminder of his ministry until his health failed and he passed away in 1993.

In the of founder, Pastor Robert L. Taylor, the Late Bishop C.L. Bryant of Texas Southeast Third Jurisdiction changes the name of our church from Faith Chapel Church of God in Christ to Taylor Memorial Church of God in Christ, and we have established July 4th, Pastor Taylor's birthday, as our Founder's Day, to commemorate our great leader and founder.

Our Promise

On December 3, 1995, God sent all the away from the snowy mountains of Denver, Colorado, the Late Pastor Charles E. Burrell and his lovely wife the Late Mother Josephine Burrell, coming from the Progressive Church of God in Christ, Denver, Co, while there he served as the Assistance Pastor of the Late Bishop C.L. Bryant. On January 28, 1996, Pastor Burrell was no stranger to hard work. Pastor Burrell brought love and the fresh anointing that we so greatly needed. He provided direction and took us to new levels, both spiritually and physically.

On March 4, 2008, Mother Josephine Burrell preceded Pastor Burrell in death. After faithfully serving 17 years as Pastor of Taylor Memorial, on October 12, 2013, Supt. Charles Burrell retired as pastor of Taylor Memorial; however, he made sure the church was left in good standings, and he left nothing undone. On September 16, 2017, Pastor Charles. E. Burrell  received his call to glory.

Our Journey Still Unfolding

The Seed

Solar Lane "The Home of The Big Mesqutoes"

In Matthew 16:13-18, Jesus declares, “On this rock, I will build my church.” Pastor R.L. Taylor and Lady Marie Taylor embodied this scripture by planting the seed which Faith Chapel Church was built. He nurtured the seeds of spiritual growth, evangelism, and the continuous pursuit of God’s purpose for each individual’s life.
